GENERAL

1.         The inaugural Royal Marines Cross-Training Championships will take place at CTCRM Wednesday September 10th 2008 , by kind permission of Brigadier B Dunham OBE, Commandant CTCRM.

AIM

2.         To conduct a competition to find the

‘Fittest man in the Royal Marines’.

COMPETITION OUTLINE

3.         Cross-Training is essentially a Gym Decathlon against a running clock, whilst competing against other individuals.  The ten exercises generally alternate between Cardio-Vascular and Muscular Endurance disciplines.  The contest will be competed in two lanes with individuals racing alongside each other in a linear course arrangement.  Competitors will submit estimated times (Verified by UPTI) to ensure they race against someone of a similar fitness, this will ensure close racing, furthering competitor and spectator enjoyment.  The RM Cross-Training Championship Course is detailed at annex A.

4.         There will be a competitor briefing at 1230hrs in the Main Sports Hall on the day of the event.

5.         The first race will commence at 1300hrs, competitors will then set off in pairs at 7-minute intervals, this will ensure no one is caught (Unless they have submitted an un-verified time!).  In theory the fastest two competitors will be racing in the final race, the fastest time of the day will produce the winner and carry the accolade of ‘The fittest man in the Royal Marines’.

TEAM EVENT

6.         The Team Event will consist of 5 men per Unit Team, each man will undertake two disciplines consecutively, the fastest team will be the winners and be the Team Champions.

COMPETITION EQUIPMENT

7.         All competition equipment will be from Technogym and will be calibrated before the Championships commence.

JUDGING

8.         Judging of the races will be performed by the PT Staff at CTCRM, judging will be strict and repetitions will be docked for poor or incorrectly performed exercise, the Judges word is final!
