UK CROSS TRAINING ASSOCIATION Membership Details We are looking as a new association to grow the sport for all involved. It takes time and money to run a website and we are asking initially for a small annual sum to help us do this. Membership for 2008 is £10. No direct debits or credit card details will be requested. It will be just old fashioned postal delivery of cheques or postal orders. Payment can also be made through our third party affiliates. These are our county representatives and competition organizers and some health clubs. It is not enough to just send us £10 for membership, you need to download the application form and post a time for a run through of the event - either for the individual cup entry or a team entry or just an entry for the time trial competition. A number of you have already sent cheques without posting a time, we would ask these people to post a time in the next four weeks. As and when the sport grows and more can be offered to the member we will review the situation on discussion with our members. One of the key methods we believe that will grow the sport is to make it fun to watch and enjoyable to compete in for as many people as possible. For that reason we consider spectators to be equally important to events wherever and whenever they are watching. This will mean the sport needs to become more of a spectacle and a show, without detracting from the competitiveness of the racing. The Cross Training Cup will have room for around 500 seated spectators and the event will be promoted locally as an attraction. The commentary at the event will be mainly for their their benefit, just as you would expect at an Athletics Stadium. In the meantime we are asking that all competitors wishing to partake in Cross Training take out membership. You can do this at the first competition you enter in the year or directly by sending us a cheque for £10 along with your name, address, contact number and if possible an email address. We regret that we will not be able to reply to you in any other way than email. What you will get for your membership at the moment is a weekly email of training tips for beginners and advanced cross trainers. You will also get entry into the age category time trial competition on this website and you will be able to post as many times as you like. The more members per age category, the more we will be able to offer better prizes. We are waiting to confirm external sponsors before announcing details on this. Members will also get the chance to enter the cup competition in July and the membership fees will be going toward staging that competition. If get sponsorship that will be an added extra and more can be given out as prize money. In the future we will be looking to offer more for the membership and give greater value for money. In the meantime please help us grow by posting a time and recommending that others in the gyms in your area do the same. We will also be notifying all organisers future of Cross Training competitions of your name and membership number so that they may send you details of how to enter. Our contact details:- Email:- jacqui@ukxta.co.uk Address:- 17 Redwing Avenue, Chippenham Wiltshire SN14 6XJ Please send all correspondence to either of these addresses and initially please mark any cheques or postal orders to Jacqui Macquisten. Application Forms - Membership Application forms. All Members must post a time either on the Club course or the Cup course in order to join. Please note that we reserve the right to call the gym manager who has validated your times as a random checking procedure. Added to that we will also be checking all the times for those athletes who have posted fast enough times to qualify for the National Cup Competition.
